A Study of the Scales for Measuring the Family Strengths
Choi Yong-Min

Abstract
The conclusion of my study runs as follows. The scales, like, the mutual respect of family members, appreciation and affection for each other, positive communication patterns and the ability to successfully manage with stress, crisis, domestic troubles, are similarly and generally used, in measuring the family strengths, in both other countries and South Korea. However, the scales, like, filling the role of family members, physical health, economic stability, economic cooperation, intercourse between relatives and religion, are the unique characteristics only in South Korea. It seems that many people in South Korea think of these differences as the important characteristics of strong family members. I think that these differences have been made by the factors of the sociocultural differences between other countries and South Korea. I emphasize that the unique Korean scales, like, filling the role of family members, physical health, economic stability, economic cooperation and intercourse between relatives, must be certainly used, in measuring the family strengths only in South Korea. From now on, I need to profoundly, extensively and continuously study and develop, the scales for measuring the family strengths, that would be appropriate for South Korea.
